Our Promise

Students will learn how to learn.

Our instructional philosophy puts students in the driver's seat of their own development — driven by purpose, guided by real questions, and ready to put learning to work in their communities. Students learn best when they are driven by purpose and the learning is meaningful. At Magnet School Of Multimedia Arts & Engineering, students learn to develop the relevant questions that guide their work, set goals, and self-reflect to assess their own progress. They build the skills to research, design experiments, gather relevant data, and determine effective ways to present their findings to real audiences — seeing their learning as a tool for empowerment, not just an assignment to complete. This is the process that makes M.S. 654 capable of preparing students who are ready to succeed in college and remain relevant in their future careers.

Magnet School Of Multimedia Arts & Engineering provides a project-based learning curriculum that is deliberate and reflective. Our students are engaged in problem solving, inquiry research, analysis, and evaluation at every turn.

As a M.S. 654 student, learners are undoubtedly challenged to use technology to strengthen their skill-sets on their educational — and essentially life — journey.

Responsibility

Everyone is accountable for fulfilling their duties for the betterment of the collective — able to reflect, seek support, and respond when challenged. Staff and students are responsible to themselves and others to complete tasks, remain committed, and engage in appropriate behaviors.

Effort

Staff and students consistently persist to achieve their goals, determined to accomplish their tasks. They utilize their will and resources to overcome the obstacles that stand between themselves and what they set out to do.

Collaboration

Staff and students work together to accomplish the shared goals of the school, appreciating collective intelligence and the challenging nature of the task. Members of the VSC community also seek and accept feedback to gain insight and grow.
